Description

The Geyser Insulation pack consists of a foil faced Glasswool insulation blanket in a kit form that includes 5 x 1m, high density Glasswool Snap On Pipe insulation of 15mm ID bore x 20mm wall thickness and duct tape. Additional pipe insulation is available on request.

By insulating your geyser and pipes you can save up to 58% of the energy used by your geyser system

Applications

Geyser and pipe insulation for:

  • Domestic
  • Commercial
  • Public sector buildings

Benefits

Corrosion
Will not promote corrosion of steel, copper or aluminium.
Vermin Proof
Will not provide sustenance for rodents.
Fire Properties
Geyser blanket:

  • Non-combustible – tested to SANS 10177 Part 5

Class A1, s1, d0 according to EN 13823 Tested to ASTM E-84

  • Flame Spread Index: 20
  • Smoke Development Index: 5

Pipes:

  •      Class 1 fire index rating – tested to SANS 10177 Part 3
Durability
  • Odourless, inert and fully compatible with all standard building materials and components
  • Will not promote corrosion of steel, copper or aluminium
  • Will not breed or promote fungi, mould or bacteria
  • Non-hygroscopic
Environmetal Sustainability
Geyser blankets are manufactured according to ISO 14001:2004. Less material, less energy and less emitions

  • Zero ozone depleting potential (ODP)
  • Zero global warming potential (GWP)
Thermal Properties
Contributes to lifelong savings by reducing heat loss through the geyser and associated piping due to the inherent thermal insulation properties.

Features

  • Lifelong energy savings
  • Lightweight and easy to handle
  • DIY friendly
  • Maintenance free
  • Long product life – will not readily age
  • Suitable for high humidity applications

Handling and Storage

Store undercover, and in dry conditions. Handle with care, especially on the edges and corners, which can be damaged if subject to sharp impact.  Do not apply excessive pressure, for example by standing or sitting on the product, as permanent damage may be caused.

Geyser Blanket Installation Methodology

  INSTALLATION METHODOLOGY

1.

  • Gently wipe the geyser with soft cloth to remove dust

2.

  •  Measure the circumference and length of the geyser and  cut the geyser blanket to size allowing an additional 100mm overlap.
  • Wrap the cylindrical section of the geyser with the blanket, ensuring that the foil faces outwards.

3.

  • Use a piece of binding tape (supplied) to secure the blanket and seal longitudinally along the joints.

4.

  • Measure the diameter of the geyser end cap and cut two circular pieces of blanket allowing for an additional 50mm overlap.
  • Enclose each geyser end cap with the circular piece of blanket.

5.

  • Secure and seal the cut circular piece of the blanket to the cylindrical section at each end with a binding tape.

6.

  • Install snap-on-pipe insulation around the pipes running to and from the geyser.
  • From the geyser inlet, insulate the first 2m of cold water pipe and insulate all the hot water pipes. (mitre cut pipe sections at the  bends).
